Gold Medalist Chris Hammer | Passionate about performance

Chris Hammer is a professional triathlete, sport psychologist, former collegiate triathlon coach and project coordinator at ASU’s Academic Enterprise Enrollment team. He starts his day at 5 a.m. with an intense workout that includes cycling, running, strength training and swimming.

Originally from Troy, Michigan, Chris is a five-time NCAA All-American at Grand Valley State University. He holds a PhD in sport psychology, an MBA from the University of Utah, and a master’s degree in sport administration from Eastern Washington University.

Chris’s athletic career includes a gold medal at the 2011 Parapan American Games, strong performances at the 2012 Paralympic Games, and 34 international triathlon events with 25 podium finishes, including 11 golds.

Most recently, Chris claimed gold to win his first Paralympic medal, in the men’s PTS2 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Based in Arizona, Chris balances his triathlon training with leading a research study at ASU, in collaboration with PTVC, that focuses on enhancing student veterans’ well-being.

You might say that Chris is passionate about performance. Using his skill set to work with veterans is also a passion given his competitors are in many instances veterans. Based on veteran feedback Chris has created custom content to help you perform at your peak.
