Pat's Run is an annual running event held in Tempe, Arizona in honor of Pat Tillman — namesake of ASU's The Pat Tillman Veterans Center. A former NFL player who left his professional football career to enlist in the United States Army after the September 11 attacks, Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 due to friendly fire.
Pat's Run has grown significantly since its inception and attracts thousands of participants each year, including military personnel, veterans, athletes, and community members, all coming together to honor Tillman's legacy and support a worthy cause.
The run consists of a 4.2-mile race, which symbolizes Tillman's jersey number when he played football for Arizona State University. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Pat Tillman Foundation, which provides scholarships to military veterans and their spouses.
