Two new ASU community members will be joining as extended Pat Tillman Veteran Center members this semester to better serve the veteran community at Arizona State University.
Meet Dustin Hood
Student Veteran Admission Specialist Dustin Hood is the first point of contact for military veteran and dependent students.
His role is to be an advocate for veteran students and dependents who are pursuing their education goals.
He works in the Admission Services department with student veterans and dependents to help “give them a seamless transition to ASU.”
“I work in tandem with the Pat Tillman Veteran Center to make sure that students get the information they need so they are not lost when they arrive,” Hood says.
Before working at ASU, Hood served in the army for 12 and a half years as 15Q air traffic control specialist.
He spent seven of those years in Germany and was deployed two times — Iraq from 2004 to 2005, and Afghanistan from 2012 to 2013.
During his service, he received a bachelor’s and master’s in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. While he was out of service, he completed a second masters in information systems from University College Dublin.
“Education has always been a big part of my life,” Hood says. “That's something I have always emphasized and encouraged even [to] my subordinates when I was in the military.”
Meet Chelsey Jonson
Chelsey Jonson serves as the liaison between Career and Professional Development Services and the Pat Tillman Veterans Center.
She provides resources and opportunities to help student veterans become “career ready,” and connects them with employers.

“There actually are a lot of employers who reach out to either Michelle Loposky or directly to our office at career services and are interested in hiring veterans.”
Jonson will be in the Pat Tillman Veterans Center every second and fourth Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Tempe campus, and every third Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. on the Polytechnic campus, to help student veterans with their resumes.
