HeroPreneur National Veteran Business Summit

Do you have your own business? Thinking about starting one? Then the HeroPreneurs conference is for you. This conference is specifically for veteran business owners and veteran entrepreneurs, and is a great networking opportunity. Workshops for budding entrepreneurs will be offered in the breakout sessions.

Save the dates: Nov. 14 – 16. Look for more details coming soon. The Pat Tillman Veterans Center will have a limited number of day passes available for ASU veterans to attend at no cost. Learn more about the HeroPreneur conference.


Salute to Service 2018

This year’s Salute to Service will run Nov. 5 – 12. Be on the lookout for Salute to Service events and announcements in the coming weeks. In addition to events that may be taking place on your campus, there will also be a tailgate networking event cosponsored by the Pat Tillman Veterans Center, ASU Alumni Association and ASU Career and Professional Development Services. Corporate partners looking to hire veterans will be at the tailgate event. Save the date for the ASU vs. UCLA football game on Nov. 10.

Veterans Scholar Program makeup workshop

The Veterans Scholar Program is still accepting applications. This program is an opportunity for students to elevate their excellence mindset, gain valuable professional skills and mentorship, and receive a financial award upon graduation to assist with professional development. The program is currently open to juniors, seniors and graduate students. If you missed our first introductory event, we invite you to attend our upcoming workshop on Saturday, Oct. 13. More details to follow.


Military advocate schedule update

Your military advocate, Shawn Banzhaf, has an updated schedule of his availability at each of ASU’s campuses. Meeting with Shawn is a perfect opportunity to discuss any challenges or concerns you have, either in your academics and personal life. Here is Shawn’s updated schedule:

Mondays — West campus

Tuesdays — Polytechnic campus

Wednesdays — Tempe campus

Thursdays — Downtown Phoenix campus

Fridays — Tempe campus


Student article: Student veterans and math tutoring

The Pat Tillman Veterans Center received feedback from you regarding tutoring and academic success, and we’ve created a new math tutoring program just for student veterans. The Student Veteran Tutoring Team is currently available only on the Tempe campus, but is planned to expand to all campuses and offer tutoring in a variety of subjects. Student veteran Ryan Wadding shares more information in this article.
