Salute to Service 2019

Each year in celebration of Veterans Day, ASU proudly honors veterans and active members of the military with Salute to Service, a series of events on each of the ASU campuses. We encourage you to attend all of the Salute to Service events — check out a complete list of everything you can attend during this celebration, Nov. 1–11

 

Fourth annual Dean’s Cup tournament

Watch as a team of student veterans from the Pat Tillman Veterans Center, along with teams of cadets and midshipmen from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine ROTC units, compete to take home the coveted Dean’s Cup at the fourth annual flag football tournament during Homecoming. The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 24 in the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. The first game starts at 9 a.m., and the championship game begins at 12:45 p.m. There will also be other family-friendly activities and tug-of-war. Arizona Veteran Survey

The 2019 Arizona Veteran Survey is now open online. This statewide survey is open to all service members, veterans and their families, providers, and community supporters. The survey’s goal is to strengthen the care, services and support provided to veteran and military members and their families throughout Arizona. Take a few minutes to fill out the survey and share it with your network and community before it closes on Dec. 31, 2019

 

Veterans Honor Stole Ceremony

Are you graduating this December? If so, make sure to RSVP for the Veterans Honor Stole Ceremony. The ceremony is right around the corner. If you have any questions about the event, please check the FAQ page.

 

Threatcasting introductory course in spring 2020

Threatcasting uses social science, technical research, cultural history, economics and more to understand what needs to be done now and in the future to disrupt possible threats. This one-credit ASU course will introduce you to the threatcasting process. Attend an info session during Salute to Service to find out more.

Hacking for defense course in spring 2020

If you have an interest in learning about the intersection of sustainability and national security, consider enrolling in Lean Startup Problem Solving for Sustainability in the spring. You’ll have the opportunity to create prototypes and solutions to address real-time U.S. Department of Defense needs. To enroll, search for class #33032 in the ASU Course Catalog. The class is cross-listed as SOS 594, FSE 494 and FSE 598. Attend an info session during Salute to Service to find out more.

ASU Student Media/Off-Campus Housing, in partnership with the Sun Devil Family Association and Union Tempe, invites you to enjoy a free Thanksgiving meal on campus. Please bring a can of nonperishable food items to donate to the City of Tempe Food Bank.
